Here are some tips to get the most out of being featured. We are assuming you want to get more followers and that is the reason why you wanted to be Featured. Here are some tips on how to get more followers:
1: Tweet!
Your last tweet is visible here on the front page. Make sure it isn't a non-descriptive and 12 hour old tweet that people see there. Make them funny, entertaining and informative to make a good first impression.
2: Reply
People love following people who they have real interaction with. When you gain a follower welcome him or her (openly or via direct message) and make sure you include some information to make it interesting for your other followers. Example: "Hey @Boris, thanks for following me. Didn't know you were the founder of TwitterCounter. Great service!"
3: Notify
let people know that you are the Featured user here. With a little bit of luck other people will check it out, ask you questions, which will expose your username and lead to more followers.
4: Avatar
Pick one that looks appealing to followers. Use a photo where you smile and your face is clear and recognisable. Or use a logo, bright colored drawing or cartoon. Make it stand out from the rest!
5: Description
The description you enter in your Bio is extremely important for people to get a first impression of what you are and what you do. Take some time to inform and invite people to check into you.
6: Links and Photos
People love links to interesting posts or photos. Post these often. Check out the Digg front page or that latest cool article on CNET or Wired and post a link to that. Make some interesting photos and post that. Create unique content!
7: Be good
Twitter is not very fond of user who follow (or unfollow) a lot of people in a short time period. It is entirely up to you but we would advice not to follow back everybody who follows you. Esspecially not by using a service that automates the process.
8: Churn!
This sales term describes the cycle of acquiring new customers while losing others.
The best way to find out if a Twitter user is interesting for you is to follow them for a little while. This is exactly what most people do. They follow you, to find out if there is value in following you, and then decide whether they keep following you. You can expect some 'churn' about 24 hours after you have been featured on TwitterCounter. Read and act on the tips given here to minimize churn.
