My counter button is not updating

I know that my followers has raised daily from 3 to 6, but my counter just shows the 3 original ones I had when I started to use Twitter. If I change to a 'blue' box I can see 6, but the box is too small on my page & I prefer the bird or my avatar, but if I load either of these I just get '3' followers showing again. I've updated my stats within Twitter Counter and refreshed my site pages but it continues to show just the three :-(
I'm trying to add a follower a day! :-)
