My Twitter Counter Does Not Work Properly

Posted by najib bencherif — 18th of August 2011, 21:00 PM

I receive several emails on a daily basis confirming that I have more followers but my Twitter Counter has been showing constant decrease of my followers over the past two weeks. I strongly believe that it is not showing the real number of my followers. Kindly advise.

Anoher question: How can I check that my Twitter Counter is working properly and not broken? Is there any method/technique to verify if the counter is showing the real number of followers?

Hi Najib,

Besides gaining new followers it's very likely that you're also losing followers. Your numbers are probably decreasing because more users are un-following you than following you.

The numbers we show are the numbers we get through the Twitter API. These numbers are accurate. If you're unsure at any given time the numbers are not accurate you can click on the "Update stats now" link at the top of your profile page to update the stats.

I'm sorry but I'not convinced with your reply. I understand that I lose followes but not at this rate. Beside my Twitter counter seems to be jammed at 777.
Regarding the instructions you gave me at the end of your email, can you be more specific and clearer?
Thanks

The numbers we show you are retrieved through the Twitter API. We get them once a day, meaning it could be off by a margin. However, as stated previously, you can update your stats at any time by clicking the "Update stats now" link at the top of your profile page (http://twittercounter.com/pages/you). You will find the link next to the "najib bencherif Twitter Stats" headline.
